Hameau de la Reine Bustier
This one of a kind Bustier is the epitome of Queen Marie Antoinette’s Playful life style and her time spent at “Hameau de la Reine.” My inspiration came from my visit to Her little Cottage retreat at Versailles and the stylistic design of life Marie Antoinette created for herself in her rustic "village" with a taste of naturalism and an affinity towards the "simple" life.
The structure of the fabric is burlap-like, made in France and is 100% natural Linen with a burlap look but silk softness feel. With soft frayed edges to give a more worn look across the Bust line. A removable matching sash can be also worn without the bustier and added to the brim of a hat or a head scarf. The Beautiful Blush Plume Flower Pin /Clip with vintage brooch rhinestone center adds the the look that even though she would “play the part of a Shepard“ she still had the look of a Queen .
The Queen sought refuge in peasant lifestyle, milking cows or sheep, which were carefully maintained and cleaned by the servants. She preferred to wear simple clothing uncharacteristic to the frivolous fashion of the French Court while at the hameau, and often dressed in a sun hat and informal muslin dress and natural fabrics that added comfort to a cottage lifestyle .The simplicity of the garment would lay the foundations for Regency / Empire Fashion in the later decades during and after the Revolution.
